The Dirtybird godfather is back with a bang — Claude Vonstroke has released the first-ever live mix album to come from the West Coast label, along with a mini-documentary with the same name: Live In Detroit. This fittingly comes from such a talented artist whose hit track “Who’s Afraid Of Detroit” still echoes through speakers across the globe twelve years after its original release back in 2006.
The mix album – which was actually recorded live in Detroit at the closing set of Movement Music Festival earlier this year – gives fans around the world a taste of what it was like to dance through the night with the label head.
The just-under-two-minute documentary gives touching insight into VonStroke’s connection with the hometown of techno and gives you a look into his Movement trip surrounding the set as well:
“I always want to bring the hottest possible set for Detroit, it’s where it all started, and my parents always come watch. My set is very much an old-school-style DJ set, all music no one’s heard before, special versions, secret edits, all the stuff I’ve been saving just for this performance. It seems crazy to release a mix album in today’s world, but the amount of incredible original music I have collected from both known and unknown producers will make this something people can get really excited about.”
