Beatport’s newest feature, “Hype Charts”, has just launched on the website with a fresh new perspective on music discovery and appreciation for lesser known artists. It has been created with the concept of showing more love to smaller and independent labels that don’t quite always nab the platform’s spotlight.
“Hype Charts” is Beatport’s new route to “strengthen its commitment to developing independent music and labels” and provide “greater visibility” to the smaller labels. Terry Werrasinghe, the Chief Product Officer of the internationally-known company, also explains that it’s a new effort by the platform to encourage artists and music-lovers alike to keep digging into the thousands of songs that are available for purchase.
The feature will be updated on a weekly basis and is available for the top ten genres on the platform, which includes techno, tech house, house, deep house, melodic house & techno and more. There’s also an overall top picks Hype Chart available on the homepage – just scroll midway down the page.
We’re excited to see this shift into a newfound support for smaller labels and independent music – and hope this push for exploration beyond industry giants continues.
